 January 1st 2007. 2006 SUMMARY... ( 2007 summary to follow )

It has been quite a year to say the least and there is lots to report but first we have to say a genuine 'Thanks' to all of our clients and wish everyone a trouble free Christmas and a very happy new year.

The most significant project this year has been our Cod research program and the massive interest that has been shown from all over the world. Early next year we will be announcing our new partners and the Christmas break will provide a useful period for us to examine all the various proposals and decide which partner to take which is why this year we are taking a full 3 weeks 'holiday' before reopening. As from Friday December 15th we will not be taking phone calls or answering enquiries until we reopen on Monday January 8th. Our email service will remain however although responses may take a little longer. All going well we should be able to release details of our new partners by the end of February. At present we have not made a firm commitment to anyone as the offers are still coming in but we realise that to push forward and avoid any unnecessary delays we will have to shut the door soon on any fresh proposals and make a decision. Whatever the result we can assure everyone that financial gain, whilst very important, is not the only factor to consider as we also need to make sure that ultimately the Cod stocks themselves benefit. At the time of writing there is still very little chance that the Cod research program will stay in the UK. Sad but there it is. With no help from the likes of DEFRA or the various Business Link agencies, government bodies etc we have no option other than to pursue an entirely commercial route to funding. As always, the above talk a good game but actually have very little interest and even less to offer. They would rather pay for expensive committees and reports than really do anything, I guess we should not have expected anything else. The only real chance of a deal in the UK is via the various supermarket chains who have an obvious interest in being able to sell frozen fish that is both fresher and significantly cheaper than is currently available whilst enabling them to take out the opposition as it were.

Our new research unit and the mobile capability will provide clients with a whole new range of services in 2007 and bookings are now being taken across the wide spectrum of facilities we can now offer. In conjunction with Supafish we will continue to look at projects abroad particularly in the USA and the new European countries, especially Bulgaria which holds a great deal of interest as an emerging economy of the future in terms of investment. Fortunately we are in the enviable position of being able to select our clients rather than the other way around which means that we do not have the usual commercial pressures of having to 'sell' ourselves or our services. At present we turn down many more contracts than we could possibly take on and hope that this situation remains throughout 2007 and beyond as it enables us to pursue a path that we feel is of benefit to both the environment as well as our clients rather than just having to seek pure profit ....... there is no reason why both can't go hand in hand.

A short while ago we decided to make Diobas a limited company purely because of the nature of future projects and the Cod research program as it will enable us to offer shares etc in the future. It also makes it easier to deal with new partners for obvious reasons. It was not a decision that was taken lightly but rather an inevitable result of our company's growth. Slowly over the coming year the nature of our operation will also change with the emphasis being on larger and more long term projects rather than short term contracts that were originally very important in terms of cash flow. Oddly enough we will also be reducing our staff requirement as we no longer need to provide services in bulk. Instead we will be concentrating on very specialised projects that require unique expertise and we will provide that service anywhere in the world. We do have the option of expanding, more staff, bigger offices, more contracts and so on but this has been rejected by our directors in favour of concentrating on specific high income/investment proposals that can be serviced by a small team of experts. Our contact base covers most of the world and we can call on individual expertise as and when required, this way we can offer the very best that money can buy without having to employ top experts in their field only to have them sitting around waiting for projects that require a particular skill. The benefits to our clients are obvious as no company could afford to employ such expertise on a permanent basis whereas we can supply the very best in any given field to ensure that the service we offer is genuinely second to none. Having a 'mini empire'. large London offices and hundreds of staff does not hold any appeal ..... most of the company directors of such concerns are only on an ego trip anyway. Thankfully our philosophy is very different.

We will continue to provide the very best expertise available to a limited number of clients in whatever field they operate and look forward to a very interesting and challenging 2007.
